An international consortium comprising Silver Trak Digital, Ortana Media Group, and Dotcom Telecommunications is set to launch the world’s first end-to-end ‘Media Ecosystem’ in Malaysia – powered by state-of-the-art generative AI technology for content discovery, designed to take content from ‘Digitisation to Monetisation’.
This groundbreaking Media Ecosystem will position Malaysia as a global leader in audio-visual content preservation.
28th November 2024 – London, UK In conjunction with the 33rd edition of Film Festival Malaysia (FFM33), the international consortium of Silver Trak Digital (Australia), Ortana Media Group (UK), and Dotcom Telecommunications (Malaysia) will host a landmark event titled ‘Media Digitisation, Restoration, Deliverables, Management, and Monetization’. This full-day event will be jointly organised with FINAS, and is poised to transform the way the global media industry approaches the preservation and monetisation of its audio-visual archives.
This event will feature three major highlights: the signing of a pivotal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the unveiling of a ‘Proof of Concept’ (POC), and a series of in-depth industry specialist led presentation workshops. At its core, the event will launch the world’s first complete end-to-end ecosystem designed for the digitisation, restoration, and monetisation of audio-visual archives. The ecosystem, spearheaded by the consortium, aims to position Malaysia as a global leader in AV preservation, setting new standards for archiving bodies globally.

The MOU signing will formalise a unified consortium, focused on delivering comprehensive solutions across the entire lifecycle of audio-visual content leveraging cutting-edge cloud and AI technologies. This collaboration aims to benefit archiving bodies not only in Malaysia but across Asia, fostering regional economic growth, knowledge transfer, and job creation. Malaysia is set to be positioned as a regional hub for AV content management, with the consortium having already engaged with archive bodies across various countries, including Malaysia. With the launch of the AWS Asia Pacific (Malaysia) Region in August 2024 offering highly competitive cloud storage and compute costs, the consortium is set to revolutionise the archiving industry.
In another world first implementation, content discovery will be accessible to worldwide buyers in up to 128 languages, leveraging the consortium’s state-of-the-art GenAI technology. This includes an Intelligent Content Assistant, making it seamless for buyers to search, preview, and order content while providing valuable backend insights to archiving bodies. The multilingual capability not only makes content more accessible to global audiences, but also positions the solution as highly marketable on an international scale.
The Proof of Concept (POC) will demonstrate the capabilities of the consortium’s ecosystem in overcoming challenges faced by archiving bodies globally. It will highlight the role of cloud and AI technologies in enriching metadata, improving content discoverability and facilitating global collaborations between national archive bodies. The POC will also illustrate how these technologies enable innovative monetisation strategies for archived media. The demonstration will feature case studies from the Hungarian Film Archives and other international archive bodies.
Workshops at the event will dive into the finer details of the ecosystem’s components. With a focus on international best practices, the presentations will cover every aspect of the AV preservation process, from interventive remediation of physical assets, their digitisation inclusive of restoration, creating distribution deliverables, media asset management, and finally, monetisation strategies.
